Government announcements on infrastructure funding and delivery

On 10th October, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury (Darren Jones MP) announced government plans to publish a ten-year national infrastructure strategy in spring 2025, as well as a Planning and Infrastructure Bill to simplify the planning process for major infrastructure projects.

He also announced the creation of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA), which will combine the functions of the National Infrastructure Commission and Infrastructure and Projects Authority and will develop and implement the ten year infrastructure strategy.

Here's hoping that these measures will assist in unlocking some of the constraints and blockers to the major infrastructure regeneration this country so badly needs.

And that’s why we are confirming today, in line with our reform pillar, that we are strengthening the oversight of the delivery of government’s infrastructure plans through the introduction of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority, or NISTA, which will be operational by spring 2025.
