Grid delays - National Energy System Operator

The new National Energy System Operator (NESO) started operation of both the electricity and gas distribution systems from 1 October 2024. Long term, it is expected and intended that it will accelerate the deployment of green energy in the UK.

In the short term, the queue system for connections is likely to mean that some projects will be removed from it and this removal is also a part of the solution which NESO will be implementing. So whilst there is hope for the longer term, short term uncertainty will continue, further embedding the funding difficulties associated with grid uncertainty.

The new National Energy System Operator (NESO) will help connect new generation projects with the electricity grid, working alongside Great British Energy to deploy renewable energy, so bill payers can reap the benefits of clean, secure, homegrown power.
